“Becoming a truck driver was never really a question for me; it always felt like the obvious choice. Thanks to KLG, I’ve been able to turn that dream into reality.”

Looking back, I never really wanted to become anything other than a truck driver. Transport runs in my family. My father and both of my grandfathers were drivers, and my uncle has been working as a driver at KLG for many years. When I was younger, I often joined him on trips to France. I loved those days on the road, and they only increased my enthusiasm for the profession.

To make my dream a reality, I started the BBL driver training programme through Summa. During the programme, I combined working and learning. I worked four days a week in KLG’s warehouse and attended school alongside that. There, I learned not only how to drive, but also gained theoretical knowledge, technical skills and everything else needed for a career as a professional driver. During the programme, I also obtained my truck driving licence and Code 95 certification.

Working in the warehouse taught me a great deal. I learned how important it is to handle cargo safely and efficiently to ensure goods arrive at their destination without damage. I also learned how to manoeuvre trucks and load and unload different types of cargo. The great thing about combining work and study is that you can immediately apply what you learn in the classroom to real-life situations.

What I appreciate most about KLG is the support and guidance you receive. From day one, colleagues were there to help me and share their knowledge. In addition, you are given plenty of opportunities to take on different tasks, which means no two days are the same. That variety keeps the work interesting and allows you to continue developing yourself.

I have now completed my training and am taking the next step onto the road. First, I will spend a short period driving alongside experienced colleagues to gain even more practical experience. After that, I will start working independently as a domestic driver. It is something I am really looking forward to.

I would definitely recommend a BBL programme at KLG. You receive excellent guidance, gain valuable hands-on experience and are given every opportunity to grow and develop. There are also many career opportunities within KLG. For me, it has been the perfect start to my career as a truck driver.
